With a depth of just over an inch, the Samsung UN46B6000 is one of the slimmest HDTVs ever made. Touch-panel controls give the TV a clean look, while red accents around the edges of the gloss black frame enhance the beauty of this set's stylish design.
In place of a conventional fluorescent backlight, the UN46B6000 uses a series of LEDs. LED backlighting dramatically improves picture contrast, expanding the range of gray tones from absolute black to brilliant white. It also increases the number of available colors — you'll primarily notice deeper reds and greens. Images have tremendous punch and impact, along with colors that look more nuanced and natural.
An LED backlight also doesn't require as much power. In fact, Samsung's new LED HDTVs consume up to 40% less power than last year's conventional LCD sets. While most HDTVs still use a 60Hz refresh rate, the UN46B6000 doubles it to 120Hz. Together with Samsung's Auto Motion Plus technology, this creates a smoother picture with less motion blur — something you'll definitely appreciate if you watch a lot of action movies or fast-paced sports. You'll also notice that images have a more solid, three-dimensional look.
